What the hell is Meripenomause?
with a twist.
It’s just Perimenopause
We’re adding a sense of joy and acceptance to this phase. Meripenomause aims to bring lightheartedness & a cheerful perspective, all while helping women build resilience & gain wisdom.
Meripenomause acknowledges the natural aging process while adding an element of flexibility. Our aim has always been to help women navigate this stage with humor, grace & a renewed sense of personal freedom.
Unlike the typical emotional or physical struggles associated with perimenopause or menopause, Meripenomause describes a period of transition that is embraced with an optimistic, carefree attitude and a sense of celebration.
Who we are
We’re Ashlea & Kathleen. Two friends who connected over a deep dive into the world of perimenopause. Some days we’re barely treading these ever-changing, raging rivers of symptoms, and some days it literally feels like we’re carefree and joyful and everything is going our way! The name Meripenomause was born from the mouth of babes. Ashlea’s 13 year old daughter was trying to console her momma for forgetting yet another thing she had to say that was so important but got lost in the perimeno brain. Her sweet kiddo said “Don’t worry, Mom, it’s just your Meripenomause.” Which of course, made everyone laugh and made it all just a little less overwhelming.
There’s a wealth of experts in the field, but in order to find them, you really have to do your research. Women’s health care has never been on the forefront of people’s minds, and most OB/GYNs end their education with post birth care. So we decided to dig. We’ve been talking to others going through it. We’ve been going to conferences. Now, we’re using the knowledge we’ve gained, along with the experiences we’re having and putting it all together so others can have a place to connect.
There’s so many of us who want more clarity, but don’t know what we should look for or who we should look to. We want to know our options, and to weed through the mistruths that have been keeping women from understanding and supporting this transition for themselves.
It’s high time we put ourselves first ~ even if it just means getting a general understanding on symptoms (we’ve got a free symptom tracker you can download and record your symptoms so you can take them to your doc and have them go through it with you) and connecting some dots.
We’re not trying to pretend we’re doctors or that we’ve got all the info ~ especially because each one of us will experience this differently. We’re not trying to suggest we have all the answers, either. But we sure can point you to some practitioners who might help, some books that will arm you with knowledge, and honestly, a community that just feels like a system of support so that you know you’re not alone.
